Thank you to our SHPTO Platinum and Gold Sponsors for 2022-2023!

We have some great opportunities for you to be involved in
your child’s school.
We have positions that are year long
positions (board), monthly events or “one & done” events.
We promise we don’t bite! And just so you know… when you decide to become involved whether on the board or as a chair, you are not alone. We help each other figure things out, we have resources, and we have fun.
If you join and decide it’s not for you, there will be no hard feelings.

What happens at PTO meetings?
Board Members attend 2 meetings a month and they both run about 1.5 - 2 hours. Each Board position has two members. If you are unable to attend a meeting, it is okay because your partner will be able to represent your role. There is also a meeting in August to forecast the budget for the PTO.
-
The General Meeting is every 1st Wednesday at 6:30pm in the school library during the school year. For the 2020 school year, we will be virtual until further notice.
-
The principal always attends this meeting and gives us a “Principals Report” of what’s going on in the school. Sometimes the meetings have a guest speaker ex: ISC informing us about their program, concerned citizen informing us about pedestrian safety with the new high school going in, etc. and sometimes we have teachers/parents presenting a grant proposal. We then talk about upcoming activities, volunteer needs, the fishbowl winner, financial update, old or new business, and hold a silent vote on a grant request if we have one, then adjourn.
-
The Board Meeting is usually a week before the General Meeting. We hold our board meetings at lunch time (subject to change depending on board members vote) in a restaurant around town: La Provence, Casa Lola, & McMenamin’s have been some of our favorites. In this meeting we discuss problems/issues that may have arisen, upcoming activities, volunteer needs, financials, old or new business and then adjourn.
